Meet Our Team at Scotia Glenville Dental Center

Since 1989, Scotia Glenville Dental Center has offered a full suite of dental care services to patients in the Scotia, NY area. Our family-owned practice is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA). Same-day appointments are available in the event of any dental emergency. Scotia Glenville Dental Center is an out of network provider with most Insurances, if you have out of network coverage we will gladly bill your Insurance on your behalf so you can still utilize your benefits with us. Please call us so we can walk you through the process.

We carry and recommend the highest quality dental care products from top names such as Oral B and Philips Sonicare. Give us a call. Dr. Jeffrey Backer D.D.S.

"Local boy" went to Howe, Oneida, Linton (back in the day) and Union College (Cum Laude). Upon completion of his undergraduate degree from Union College, Dr. Backer attended New York University College of Dentistry. After graduation, Dr. Backer worked in the largest group practice in Albany for nine years before embarking on endeavors of his own and starting Scotia Glenville Dental Center in 1989.

The above-named doctors had a profound influence and helped shape this practice to achieve its motto, "All Aspects of Dentistry, All Ages, All in One Place." Recognized by NYS Dental Association for achieving more than 1,000 hours of continuing education.

Dr. Backer’s children Elliot, Rebecca and Diana are all dynamic adults now. Elliot was Chief Resident of Internal Medicine and is now a Fellow in Critical Care Pulmonary. Rebecca has a master’s degree in Sustainable Engineering, and Diana a graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Advertising. His daughter-in-law, Allison, is soon to be a radiologist.

When he has free time, Dr. Backer enjoys boating, fishing, watercolors, woodworking and his dog Redson.

Dr. Daniel Osorio D.D.S.

Dr. Daniel Osorio joined Scotia Glenville Dental Center in 2019. “Dr. Dan” is a graduate of Cornell University (Biological Sciences 2011) & New York University College Of Dentistry (D.D.S. 2017). Dr. Osorio went on to complete two years of post-graduate General Practice Residency training at Woodhull Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident and had a focus in implant and periodontal surgical procedures. Dr. Osorio is a native of Binghamton, NY and enjoys cycling and practicing his culinary skills in his free time.

Amber - Office Manager

Amber has been with our practice since 2014. She has been in the bookkeeping, HR and medical field for over 25 years. "I have learned a great amount of information about dentistry from Dr. Backer since I started here. I enjoy seeing the transformation in our patients as they receive treatment with us. Not only from the cosmetic aspect, changing your smile can give you better self confidence that everyone deserves to experience." Amber enjoys spending time with her family and friends in her free time.

Hi I’m Redson! I am a Kerry Blue Terrier, born February 28, 2012. Just like my dad (Dr. Backer), I attended many courses and my dad trains me in good manners every day.

I too love to go boating, swimming, hiking in the Adirondacks, Frisbee and sniffing! I have lots of friends who I bark with daily. But, the thing I love most is meeting new friends at the Scotia Glenville Dental Center (especially if they take time to massage my ears). You can find me back in the administrative area (I am not allowed to play where the Doctors work), so come say hello!

I tell everyone to brush three times a day and floss, also be sure to come back and see me and the doctors at Scotia Glenville Dental Center AT LEAST twice a year!! Arf! Arf!
